Rakim Jarrett signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent, adding valuable depth to their receiving corps and special teams. Known for his explosive playmaking ability during his college career at Maryland, Jarrett brings a combination of speed, agility, and big-play potential to the Buccaneers. While competing for a role in the wide receiver group, he also provides depth to special teams, where his athleticism can be a significant asset. College Career:
Rakim Jarrett has earned numerous accolades throughout his college career as a wide receiver for the Maryland Terrapins. He was named to the 2022 Biletnikoff Award Watch List and received Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors three times (2020, 2021, 2022). Jarrett was also recognized on multiple preseason All-Big Ten teams in 2022, including selections by Pro Football Focus, Athlon Sports, Phil Steele, and Pick Six Previews. His exceptional performance as a freshman earned him Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors, as well as recognition as the PFF True Freshman of the Week and 247Sports True Freshman of the Week in November 2020.
As a junior in 2022, Jarrett earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten recognition, finishing 11th in program history with 119 career receptions, 12th in career touchdowns (10), and 13th in career receiving yards (1,552). He appeared in 11 games, starting seven, and recorded 40 receptions for 471 yards and three touchdowns. His season included standout performances, such as a season-high eight catches for 82 yards and a touchdown against Northwestern, and a 110-yard game in the season opener against Buffalo. He also made key plays against top teams, including a 49-yard reception against Ohio State to set up a first-and-goal opportunity and a 48-yard touchdown against Charlotte.
In his sophomore season (2021), Jarrett led the team in all major receiving categories, with 62 receptions, 829 yards, and five touchdowns. He ranked seventh in the Big Ten in receptions, eighth in receiving yards, and 10th in touchdowns. He had several notable games, including a career-high 10 receptions for 105 yards at Michigan State and a 122-yard performance with a game-winning touchdown against West Virginia. He finished the season ranked 39th nationally in receiving touchdowns.
As a freshman (2020), Jarrett made an immediate impact, earning Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors. He started all four games in which he appeared and posted 17 receptions for 252 yards and two touchdowns. Notably, he had a breakout game against Penn State, where he tallied five receptions for 144 yards and two touchdowns, including a 62-yard and 42-yard touchdown catch. His performance set a Maryland freshman record for receiving yards and made him the first Terp freshman since Stefon Diggs to record a 100-yard game and two touchdowns.
Before joining Maryland, Jarrett was a highly recruited five-star prospect and ranked as the No. 2 wide receiver in the nation. He was named the 2019 DC Gatorade Player of the Year and Washington Post All-Met Offensive Player of the Year. His high school career was marked by impressive statistics, including 60 receptions for 950 yards and seven touchdowns in his senior year, helping him earn three-time First Team WCAC honors. Jarrett chose to stay close to home and play for Maryland, a decision motivated by his loyalty to the team and his desire to help his hometown school succeed.
